Blue Eyed Boy

This is my eldest son Nathan who we simply adore. He is such a kind and generous child who makes his parents so very proud of him. His Uncle Bruce reckons he should be a model, yet I am pretty sure he has already seen enough cameras for a life time with me wanting to capture his amazing personality all the time. His guitar playing is apparently grounds for his rockstar haircut and helps make this photo in my opinion really special.

F/3.2 to narrow the depth of field and then a B&W conversion to emphasise Nathan’s amazing blue eyes. Although his mum & I are heavily biased we always thought Nath was a good looking kid…but hay that is what all parents think.

Boy in an Alley

In 2010 my family was fortunate to travel through China. Many thanks to our good friends the Thompson’s for arranging our fantastic trip which included a day trip to the the water town called Zhouzhuang. Described as the Venice of China, this is an amazing city steep in tradition and now tourism.

While making our way through this beautiful ancient town, I saw this local boy playing in an alley. I particularly like the lighting and the expression of the boys face as he plays with his toy on the wall. I have used a B&W treatment to emphasise the lighting and hope you also like this candid urban photo.

Sydney Harbour [Before Earth Hour 2012]

Caught up with good friend Mario Bekes for some photos down on Sydney Harbour for Earth Hour last Saturday night. Although Earth Hour is a fantastic global initiative, I was amazed by the number of office buildings in the Sydney CDB that did not participate. I’m sure it is security related rather than lethargy. The Sydney Harbour Bridge & Sydney Opera House were 2 iconic landmarks that joined the many that did. My anticipated photography spectacle wasn’t as amazing as what I expected, yet it was great to get out & take some photos of what I happily say (I might be a tad biased) is the most stunning harbour in the world.

Below is a panoramic photo of Sydney Harbour just minutes before the 8:30pm Earth Hour. A classic photo that everyone with a camera has taken whilst in Sydney however mine is 6 image panoramic that will when printed large would look awesome on any wall : )

Welcome…

I would like to welcome you to my website. I am a passionate individual who loves to capture the precious memories & emotions of life via photos.

My website displays a small selection of my work & is reflective of those (including my family) who are willing to display their photos publicly.

Please take time to take a look & ask me any questions. I tell my kids, that there are no such things as dumb questions & if you don’t ask you don’t find out. Give me a call or drop me an email, sms, etc and I will happily discuss or make recommendations regarding your photography needs.

Take care…Marc

P.S. Below is one of the first series of photos I sold professionally & whilst there is much I still love about this photo of boats sailing up Newcastle’s Coal River in mid-north coast NSW, I can’t help but reflect on how much I have grown as a photographer.
